Any personal trainer who doesn’t hold a consultation is just after your money!

A consultation allows both yourself and the personal trainer to meet each other before any services are undertaken; why is this important I hear you ask.

The relationship between a personal trainer and a client is a personal one. You both need to be able communicate effectively to one another, you both need to trust each other, you both must understand what motivates one another.

You will be working together as a team so by partaking in a consultation you both have the ability to decide if you feel you can work together. You wouldn’t want to work with a personal trainer who you didn’t have confidence in and likewise, a personal trainer won’t want to work with a client you they don’t believe will commit to the hard work that will be required.

KickStartPT believes that anyone who is serious about bettering themselves, from complete beginners to seasoned professionals would benefit for working with a personal trainer.

A personal trainer will help you to:

  • Get the most out of your training time
  • Set goals to motivate you
  • Break through plateaus
  • Learn new skills
  • Understand how to train effectively
RD Health & FitnessKickStartPT have the ability to train you anywhere; we can bring the gym to you at home, at work, in a local park or even on the beach! We also have exclusive access to the fantastic facilities at RD Health & Fitness.
Sessions with KickStartPT range between 30 minutes to 1 hour. Please don’t assume that the longer the session the more progress you will make; it’s simply not true! There’s no padding in a KickStartPT session; our sessions our expertly designed to get the most out of our time together.
Your previous health and injury concerns are something that will be discussed at consultation. We aim to provide our clients with a duty of care; but more importantly we must be honest with them.

If we feel that a previous health concern or injury would diminish the results we could expect achieve we will tell you so. Whilst our methods are proven and our results are undoubted our system may not be suitable for everyone.

It’s the 21st century. You can pay by cash or by card.

KickStartPT has the ability to take secure card payment either physically in person or by taking your details over the telephone. Your payments will be made via the secure iZettle service; we can even provide you with a receipt.

We accept that on occasion family commitments or illness may mean that you have to cancel a session with KickStartPT. We allow you to cancel up to 1 session in every 5 free of charge. We will of course re-schedule your missed session at a mutually agreed time and date.
Education Before every session your personal trainer will educate the you as to what you are going to do during the work out. The will explain the rationale behind the system and exercises being used so as ensure buy-in, understanding and commitment.
Warm Up By completing a thorough warm up we will lessen the likely hood of injury, and we will psychologically prepare for the work to follow.
Work Out KickStartPT workouts will always follow the High Intensity, Constantly Varied, Functional approach. Workouts will be both challenging and rewarding. They will also allow you to set a ‘bench mark’ so that should you wish to repeat a work out you will be able to gauge your fitness levels against previous efforts.
Cool Down Every session will finish with a cool down and a stretch. This will speed up the recovery process by lowering the heart rate and flushing waste products out of the muscles.
Consolidation Every session will finish with a consolidation ‘chat’ were the personal trainer will recap on the sessions objectives, give you feed back on your performance and give you a cue as to what the next session will consist of.
Functional exercise replicates functional movement; the movements we use to get average things done in our daily lives. Standing from a seated position, placing things overhead, pulling ourselves up, throwing, running, picking things up-these are all functional movements.

A functional fitness then is a training principle that utilises functional exercises to address and enhance our ability to successfully complete these types of everyday tasks. In short functional exercise allows our bodies to perform the way in which they were engineered. Squats, push ups, pull ups, deadlifts, box jumps, broad jumps, running are but a few of the tools KickStartPt will use to get you functionally fit.

KickStartPT uses High Intensity Training because we know it works! It is a specialised form of interval training or resistance training that involves short periods or ‘intervals’ of intensive exercise separated by longer intervals of low to moderate intensity exercise.

Because it involves briefly pushing yourself beyond the upper end of your aerobic exercise zone, it offers you several advantages that traditional steady-state exercise (where you keep your heart rate within your aerobic zone) can’t provide:

  • High Intensity increases the amount of calories you burn during your exercise session and afterward because it increases the length of time it takes your body to recover from each exercise session.
  • High Intensity causes metabolic adaptations that enable you to use more fat as fuel under a variety of conditions. This will improve your athletic endurance as well as your fat-burning potential.
  • High Intensity appears to limit muscle loss that can occur with weight loss, in comparison to traditional steady-state cardio exercise of longer duration.
  • High Intensity trains and conditions both your anaerobic and aerobic energy systems.
Yes! Every client of KickStartPT has specific needs; to that end we treat everyone individually. All our clients receive the KickStartPT Training Manual when they come on board; this offers basic nutritional advice in a clear and concise manner.

Further additional support such as complete diet programmes, shopping lists and meal ideas can be sought from our personal trainers.

KickStartPT places greater emphasis on getting fit and adopting an improved lifestyle rather than solely losing weight. Let me explain this:

Losing weight via diet is a quick fix! How many people do you know that have dieted, looked great and then… put it all back on, we know lots.

By working with KickStartPT not only you will lose weight (if that is your goal) but you will: improve your body composition (lose fat), learn how to train effectively, become educated so you can make better informed lifestyle choices, gain confidence in your physical ability, and become more motivated. But most importantly you will develop a routine that will enable you to continue you progress once you have finished working with you personal trainer.
